Apple’s watchOS 27 announcement featured a unpleasant surprise for most Apple Watch fans out there. According to the company’s watchOS 27 preview page, the update will not be available for majority of Apple Watch models.
Apple’s website lists the following models as watchOS 27 compatible:
- Apple Watch Ultra 3
- Apple Watch Ultra 2
- Apple Watch series 11
- Apple Watch Series 10
- Apple Watch SE 3
That means the following Apple Watch models that includes Apple Watch Ultra 1, Apple Watch Series 9 or older, and Apple Watch SE 2 won’t be getting the watchOS 27 update.
Here are the Apple Watch models that received watchOS 26 update, but won’t be getting watchOS 27.
- Apple Watch SE (2nd generation)
- Apple Watch Series 6
- Apple Watch Series 7
- Apple Watch Series 8
- Apple Watch Series 9
- Apple Watch Ultra
It seems like Apple will continue to release updates to watchOS 26 and will push those update for these models while limiting watchOS 27 to five of the more recent models.
