Snapchat Adds CallKit Support, Making Calls More Convenient

Snapchat has updated its iOS app to make it easier for its users to make phone calls on their iPhone. With today’s update Snapchat now supports CallKit, which means Snapchat calls will integrate with the stock Phone app and allow users to make receive and make calls through the Phone app. This integration is similar to what WhatsApp, Google Hangouts and other communication app have been doing for a long time.

Now that Snapchat supports CallKit, calls made through the app will appear in the Phone app’s Recents screen. In addition to that incoming calls will have an incoming calls screen that will look like the familiar call screen that appears when you receive a call on your phone number. Previously users were notified about Snapchat calls with a banner notification.

This new integration is also great for CarPlay users as now they will see Phone app’s incoming call interface when they receiving Snapchat calls while connected to CarPlay. Again this will be similar to how calls are received on CarPlay when you get them on your Phone number or FaceTime audio.

And for the teens out there, Snapchat has also brought new Cat Lenses that can be accessed from camera screen.
