Snapchat Brings Group Video Chat And Ability To Mention Users In Stories

Snapchat has announced major new features for its social networking app and will be rolling out these new features in the coming weeks. The features that will appear in Snapchat app soon include Group Video Chat and the ability to mention other users in stories.

Snapchat’s group video feature will allow up to 16 friends to video chat with each other at the same time. Snapchat’s group audio call feature on the other hand offers ability to chat with 32 friends at the same time. A group video or audio can can be initiated by adding all friends in a group and then hitting the Group Video Chat or Audio call buttons. You don’t need to create a group if all your friends are in a group already. Once a call has been initiated all members of the group will get a notification to accept it.

Mentions within stories is another feature that will appear in Snapchat apps in the coming weeks. This feature will allow users to call out other users in their stories. The mentioned user will receive a notification that they have been mentioned in other user’s story. In order to mention a user all you have to do is type ‘@’ followed by the username of the person you want to mention. You will also see username suggestions as you type.

Group video chat and mentions features have yet to roll out to users, and it is expected that they will see a worldwide roll out in the coming weeks.
