TrueDepth Enabled Snapchat Filters For iPhone X Now Available Within App

Snapchat has launched three new filters exclusively available to iPhone X users. The filters that were first shown off by Craig Federighi during last year’s September iPhone event take advantage of device’s TrueDepth camera to put incredibly accurate masks on user’s faces. Unlike other Snapchat filters that work on all devices these particular filters look very realistic and follow facial moments in realtime more accurately.

The TrueDepth enabled filters that are now available to iPhone X users in the Snapchat app feature a tiara, ornate bejewelled face mask and 80’s wrestler mask. In addition to putting very realistic masks on user’s face using the 3D sensing technology of the device Snapchat app also incorporates ambient lighting and applies a background blur to the images.

If you have an iPhone X with Snapchat installed simply launch the app and switch to the front camera within the app. Then tap and hold on the screen to access filters. There you should find these new filters ready to use right away.

It will be interesting to see if Snapchat brings these filters to other iPhones that don’t have the TrueDepth camera. Perhaps more importantly whether the social media app plans on making more TrueDepth enabled filters in the future.
