With iOS 12 Apple finally improved the notifications situation on iPhone by grouping lockscreen notifications from the same app together in one unit. While Apple’s new solution is better than the classic lockscreen notification grouping mechanism, which simply arranged the notifications in chronological manner, there’s still a lot of room for improvement.

The newly released Grupi tweak aims to improve the notifications experience on the lockscreen by changing the way they look and work. The new tweak places pill shaped buttons for each app with pending notifications right below the lockscreen date and time widget. Users can tap on these buttons to access all the notifications that are pending for that particular app.

For example, if you have pending notifications for Messages, Reddit, Twitter and Instagram, you will get the icons for these apps on top along with the number that will indicate how many alerts are pending. You can simply tap on one of these icons and gain access their notifications. This not only improves the look and feel of the lockscreen but also makes it easier for users to find notifications for the app they like.

Grupi tweak is packed with other features such as its mini media player, which is way less obstructive compared with the default music widget. In addition to this Grupi also includes features like original iOS blur view, ability for users to quickly remove a notification group with one tap, custom settings panel and more. Grupi’s developer says more features will be added to the tweak in later updates.

You can download the Grupi tweak from Cydia or Sileo’s Packix repo, where it is available for $1.99. It works with iOS 11, iOS 12 and iOS 13 or later.
