If you think Apple is not taking full advantage of iPhone’s OLED display, then you are certainly not alone. Many users complain about not having always-on ambient display feature on their OLED iPhones.

A new jailbreak tweak attempts to solve this in perhaps the most ambitious way yet. Photon is a new jailbreak tweak that aims to bring the true Ambient Display experience to the iPhone world.

This tweak lets you add multiple types of always-on widgets to the lockscreen. These widgets are displayed on the screen even when the iPhone is in idle state and not being used. This includes three styles called Minimal, Modular and Watch Face.

Photon tweak’s Watch Face style is my personal favorite as it enables users to add full Apple Watch faces to their iPhone’s always on display.

Users can choose between multiple types of Watch Faces including ‘X-Large’, ‘Numerals’, ‘Simple’, ‘Colour’, ‘Numerals Duo’, ‘Numerals Mono’ and more. An Apple Watch is not required for this feature to work. You can even apply many of these Watch faces on your iPad.

Photon is packed with clever and useful features including inactivity detection, pocket detection, screen dimming, low power mode and alway-on display on while charging. These features give users more control over when the always-on display is shown and helps in battery preservation.

Photon tweak also features widgets that can be used on the Modular style. The tweak offers widgets for weather, weather image, music, battery and activity.

Photon tweak’s developer says most lockscreen tweaks are already supported and can be used alongside Photon. This includes popular options like Jellyfish, Complications, Grupi and more.

You can download the the Photon tweak from Cydia’s Packix repo where it is available for $2.99. It works with all versions of iOS 13 including the iOS 13.5 jailbreak.
