Sileo Jailbreak Store Released As Public Beta

The Sileo package manager, which presents itself as an alternative to Cydia store has finally been released as a public beta. This means anyone with an iOS 11 powered jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod touch can now download the new package manager and try out its features. The Sileo public beta is available for download through the default Electra repository in Cydia. However in order to be able to download and use Sileo store on your jailbroken device, you have to jailbreak it using Electra 1.1.0 or later.

While the Sileo can be downloaded and tested by everyone, it is important to keep in mind that this is not a final release. So some features may not be functional or you may have to deal with bugs. Many tweaks that are available in Cydia may also not appear in Sileo in the beginning.

Sileo features a modern looking design that looks a lot like the App Store. It has a tabbed user-interface, a featured area, news area, sources page, packages page and a built-in search. Just like Cydia you can add third-party sources. The tweaks and packages are presented in a modern way with App Store like screenshots, description and the ‘Get’ button.

Currently limited number of repositories are available in Sileo as many still don’t support the new marketplace. As of now the Dynastic Repository is the only repo that is able to offer paid packages, while the support for Chariz repository will be added soon. There’s no news on when the Packix repo will be available on Sileo, however we expect that this popular repo should be making its way to Sileo jailbreak store sooner than later.

With the release of Sileo one must remember that this is not the end of Cydia. The good old jailbreak store is still alive and well. In fact an iOS 11 optimized version is bundled with unc0ver jailbreak tool.

So should you switch from Cydia to Sileo? The answer to this is entirely up to you. If you can live with the bugs in the public beta and are looking for a jailbreak marketplace that is continually being developed and offers a modern design, then Sileo is a great choice. If you would rather prefer a familiar and more stable alternative, then stick with Cydia until Sileo is fully baked.

You can download Electra 1.1.0 using the links below and then after jailbreak your iOS 11 device using the latest version. Once it is jailbroken using Electra 1.1.0, you can download Sileo Public beta from Cydia.
