How many times have you lost your iPhone and asked someone in your house to ring it. Things can get especially annoying when you don’t have another phone around to call it or your phone is on silent mode. If you lose your iPhone often, and are looking for a way to easily find it then we have got just the right tip for you.
The trick involves Siri. To locate your iPhone all you need to do is activate Siri with your voice by saying ‘Hey Siri’. This will make Siri respond with voice along with a subtle tone, however in many cases it is not loud enough to actually find the device. So you can go a step further and ask Siri to play your favorite song. So you can say “Hey Siri, Play Without Me”. At this point Siri will start playing the song, allowing you to find your device.
Before you can use this trick you have to make sure ‘Hey Siri’ functionality is enabled on your iPhone. To do so follow the simple steps below.
- On your iPhone open Settings.
- Scroll down and tap on ‘Siri & Search’.
- Then under ‘Ask Siri’ turn on the toggle for Listen for “Hey Siri”.
- You should also turn on the toggle for “Allow Siri When Locked”.
The only time your iPhone will not respond to your command is when it is placed upside down, since iOS disables Siri voice activation when the iPhone sitting in an upside down position. Apple seems to have removed the option to disable this feature.
Apple Watch users can also find their iPhone by pinging it through their Watch.
