In iPadOS 27 or later, iPad users get a brand-new Recovery Options screen that makes troubleshooting their iPad and solving software-related issues a lot easier.
The new Recovery Options screen gives users access to various tools for recovery, software update, erasing all content, and accessing Recovery Mode.

Access Recovery Options on iPad
Here’s how you can enter Recovery Options on iPadOS 27.
- Turn off your iPad by pressing the Volume Up or Down and Top buttons together.
- Once the iPad is completely off, press and quickly release the Volume Up button, then press and release the Volume Down button, and finally press and hold the Top button.
- Keep holding the Top button even when the Apple logo appears on the screen.
- Continue holding until you see the ‘Loading Recovery Options’ text on the screen.
- Let go of the Top button when you see the Loading screen.
- After a few moments, the new Recovery Options screen will appear.
Here, you’ll see several options, including Recovery Assistant, Software Update, Diagnostic Mode, Erase All Content and Settings, and Recovery Mode. Tap on the option you want to use.
If you don’t want to use any of these options, you can also press the Power button to restart your iPad and then select Restart.
