In this tutorial, we have shared step-by-step instructions on how to block a contact or an unknown phone number on your iPhone running iOS 26 or later.
This is useful if you want to stop someone from calling you, sending you text messages, and FaceTiming you. Once you block a contact or a phone number, they are blocked across all of your Apple devices.
Blocking someone on iPhone
- Start by launching the Phone app on your iPhone.
- Go to the Recents or Contacts tabs and find the contact or phone number you want to block.
- Now tap on the name of the contact. If you are blocking a number from the Recents or Calls tabs, then find their number in the call logs and tap on the ‘i’ button next to the number.
- Scroll down and tap on the Block Contact button, and confirm by tapping on Block Contact.
From now on, this contact or phone number will no longer be able to call you, send messages, or FaceTime call with you.
If you are blocking a contact or a phone number that is texting you, then you can also block them through the Messages app.
To do this, launch the Messages app and open their conversation thread. Now tap on their name or phone number from the top, and on the next page, hit the Block Contact button.
