Step 1. Open Settings and go to Focus.

Step 2. On the Focus screen tap on the ‘+‘ button.

Step 3. Now tap on Custom option.

Step 5. Add people that you want to be allowed to call or message you when this focus mode is active. You can also choose who can reach you via phone call and tap on Allow button.

Step 6. Add or remove apps that you want to allow notifications from. You can also choose to enable notifications that are time sensitive. Tap on the Allow button to proceed.

Step 7. Finally tap on Done button to create your custom Focus mode.

Now that your focus mode has been created, you are able to customize it from Focus settings page.

Here you can choose to share focus status, enable or disable certain pages of the home screen, dim lock screen, add automations to your focus mode or delete it.

How to add schedule or automation to a custom focus

You can add activation schedule or automation to a custom focus by following these steps.

Step 1. Go to Settings -> Focus and tap on the custom focus you want to edit.

Step 2. Now tap on Add Schedule or Automation.

Step 3. Choose between Time, Location or App options.

Step 4. Depending on the option you selected in step 3 specify when a notification should be activated or deactivated.

You can also choose Smart Activation option. When you do this iOS will automatically turn on your custom focus mode based on relevant times through out the day based on signals from your app usage, location and more.

You can easily delete a custom focus mode on your iPhone or iPad by following the steps below.

Step 1. Go to Settings -> Focus and tap on custom focus that you want to delete.

Step 2. Scroll all the way down and tap on Delete Focus option.
