Are you facing the issue in which the Find My iPhone toggle on your iPhone is grayed out? If yes, then don’t worry as that is exactly what we are going to fix in this tutorial.
When Find My iPhone toggle is greyed out, you are unable to turn on or turn off Find My. You can’t tap the toggle, which is really frustrating. Thankfully it is very easy to fix. Just follow the steps shared below.
Fix 1: Turn On Location Services
- Open Settings and tap on Privacy & Security.
- Tap on Location Services option.
- On the next page make sure the toggle for Location Services is enabled.
- Next, scroll down and tap on Find My.
- On the next page select ‘While Using the App’.
After performing the steps above, go to Settings -> Tap Your Name -> Find My -> Find My iPhone and check the toggle.
If you are still facing the issue, then move on to the next step.
Fix 2: Disable Screen Time Restrictions
- Open Settings and tap on Screen Time.
- Tap on Content & Privacy Restrictions.
- Next scroll down to the Privacy section and tap on Location Services.
- On the next page, make sure Allow Changes option is selected.
After performing the steps above, go to Settings -> Tap Your Name -> Find My -> Find My iPhone and check the toggle.
If you are still facing the issue, then move on to the next step.
Fix 3: Turn off Stolen Device Protection
You cannot turn off Find My iPhone if your iPhone’s Stolen Device Protection feature is enabled.
- To turn it off, simply open Settings.
- Tap on the Face ID and Passcode option and enter your passcode.
- Here, find and tap on the Stolen Device Protection option and turn if off.
Fix 4: Remove MDM/Device Management Profile
- Open Settings and go to General.
- Here tap on VPN & Device Management.
- If you see a profile listed here tap on it, and then remove it.
If the problem persists, and Find My iPhone icon is greyed out, then try these fixes.
- Sign out from your Apple ID and log back in
- Restart your iPhone and check again
- Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS
