If your iPhone is stuck on black screen or is frozen and won’t respond to touch or any other actions, then this guide is for you. You can follow the steps outlined in this tutorial to fix iPhone stuck on black screen issue.

The problem that causes the iPhone to get stuck on the black screen or become frozen usually occurs due to a software problem with the device and can mostly be solved by performing a force restart.

Force Restart iPhone

You can quickly force restart your iPhone by following the steps below.

  1. Press and quickly release the Volume Up button.
  2. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button.
  3. Press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.

In case your iPhone is frozen in an app or home screen, then you can follow the exact same steps as shown above however instead of waiting for the Apple logo you have to hold the side button until your iPhone’s screen turns off and let go of the button. Then once the screen turns off press the side button once again and hold it until the Apple logo appears.

Charge your iPhone

If a force restart has not fixed your issue and your iPhone is still stuck on a black screen, then you should do the following.

  • Plug the iPhone into a charger and let it charge for 1 hour.
  • If a low battery icon appears on the screen, then be patient and let the iPhone finish charging before unplugging it.
  • If there’s no response from your iPhone change the charging cable and charging brick and try charging for 1 hour once again.

Connect it to a computer

You can also connect your iPhone to a computer and open Finder on Mac and iTunes on Windows. If your iPhone gets detected perform a quick backup, and then update or restore iOS. Doing so can solve any software-related issues that you might be facing with it.

Contact Apple Support

If the problem persists, then chances are your iPhone has experienced physical damage or was exposed to water damage. If this is the case, then it is a good idea to contact Apple Support.
