There are two ways you can lock photos on an iPhone. The first way lets you lock the whole Photos app behind Face ID protection. If that does not work for you, then you also have the option to lock specific photos and videos and access them in a Face ID-protected Hidden folder.
Here’s how you can take advantage of these features and hide photos on your iPhone.
Lock Photos App on iPhone
Lock the Photos app
You can easily lock your iPhone’s Photos app and require Face ID and a passcode for accessing it by following these steps.
- Unlock your iPhone and find the Photos app icon.
- Long-press on the Photos icon to access the icon menu.
- From the list of options, tap on Require Face ID and confirm.
Lock specific photos and videos
You can also lock specific photos and videos and hide them in a hidden folder. Here’s how to do this.
- Unlcok your iPhone and open the Photos app.
- Find the photos you want to hide.
- Select the photos you want to hide by tapping on the Select button at the top.
- Now tap on the menu button from the top (it’s the one with three dots).
- From the menu tap on Hide option.
To access the photos and videos you have hidden tap on the Collections tab from the bottom bar. On the Colletions page scroll all the way down and tap on Hidden option. It is listed under Utilities section.
Inside the album tap on the View Album option and perform a Face ID or Touch ID scan to access your hidden photos.
