Apple has officially launched iOS 18.2, which finally brings the highly anticipated Genmoji and Image Playground features to all users. These features are now available on compatible devices, including all iPhone 16 models, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. iPads with an M1 chip or later also get these new features along with other Apple Intelligence features.

What is Genmoji?

Genmoji is an Apple Intelligence-powered feature that lets you generate custom emojis simply by describing them. It’s perfect for adding a personal touch to your messages or notes.

How to Use Genmoji

Genmoji on iPhone
  1. Open any app that uses the on-screen keyboard (like Messages or Notes).
  2. Tap the Emoji button on your keyboard.
  3. On the Emoji keyboard, tap the smiley button next to the ‘Describe an emoji’ text field.
  4. Type a description for the emoji you want to create. For example, try typing: “A cat eating a cake” or “A tiger playing a guitar”.

iOS will process your description and generate four unique Genmoji options. You can swipe left to browse through the options. Once you find the Genmoji you like, tap on it or press Add to insert it into your message or note.

What is Image Playground?

Image Playgrounds is another Apple Intelligence-powered feature that allows users to create images by giving it a description. Whether you want to create a person, a scene, or a fantastical idea, Image Playground has you covered.

  2. Type a description of what you want to create. For example: “Rain on the mountain with a mountain lion sleeping”

iOS generates several image variations for your description.

You can add costumes, accessories, or specific settings with quick suggestions. For example, you can add props to your mountain lion or change the weather in your scene.

Once satisfied with your AI-generated image, tap the Done button. After this, you can save or share your latest creation.
