iOS 12.4.2 For Devices That Don’t Support iOS 13 Released [IPSW Links]

Apple has released a new version of iOS 12.4.2 aimed at devices that are not compatible with iOS 13. If you have an older model of iPhone, iPad or iPod touch then you can head over to the settings app to download iOS 12.4.2 on your device.

While details about this new release are scarce at the moment, it is most likely that it focuses on bug fixes and security.

Apple has also released watchOS 5.3.2 for Apple Watch Series 1 and Series 2 even though these devices also support watchOS 6 update. Apple has delayed watchOS 6 release for these two models of Apple Watch until fall.

iOS 12.4.2 is available over-the-air for devices that did not get the iOS 13 update. This includes the following models of iPhone and iPad.

  • iPhone 6 Plus
  • iPhone 6
  • iPhone 5s
  • iPad Air
  • iPad mini 3
  • iPad mini 2

iOS 12.4.2 is the first update that has been released after the release of iOS 13.

While changes introduced in this release are unknown it is commendable for Apple to release software updates for devices that did not get the latest iOS version even if the updates only focus on security and bug fixes and not on adding new features to devices.
