Apple announces the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus smartphones. The A11 Bionic chip powered devices feature a similar design as previous generation iPhones, however they have a glass back to allow wireless charging with Qi open wireless standard.
Apple has maintained the screen sizes of these devices with iPhone 8 having 4.7-inches display while iPhone 8 Plus still having a display of 5.5-inches. What makes these Retina Display screens different from previous generations is the addition of True Tone display technology, which is found on the iPad Pros. With True Tone display feature the iPhone screen will adopt to lighting in the room.
The new iPhones are powered by the A11 Bionic chip that has a 30 percent faster GPU. It is also great for machine learning apps and faster autofocus and better photography. The A11 Bionic CPU can do great world tracking and scenes, the GPU renders realistic graphics and provides ISP real-time lighting.
iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have 12-megapixel back camera with Plus have having dual cameras. Apple has added a better Portrait mode with Portrait lighting feature. The new iPhones have batter cameras that have been calibrated for Augmented Reality. The new iPhone 8 cameras can shot in low light, shot 4K @ 60fps, take advantage of new gyro and accelerometer and provide accurate motion tracking. They can also record 1080HP slo-mos at 240fps.
Both iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are ‘microscopically’ sealed to make them dust and water proof. The new iPhones have better stereo speakers that not only sound better but are also 25 percent louder than previous iPhones and output deeper bass. iPhone 8 features Bluetooth 5.0, LTE Advanced, fast charging, Quad-LED True Tone Flash, Slow Sync flash, Touch ID and more.
iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus come in 64GB and 256GB capacities. iPhone 8 starts at $699 whereas the iPhone 8 Plus starts at $799.
