Apple has released the iOS 18.6.2 update for all users, and it is now available for download. iOS 18.6.2 has been released just 5 days after Apple released iOS 18.6.1. This update focuses on security improvements.
You can update your iOS device to iOS 18.6.2 and iPadOS 18.6.2 by going to Settings -> General -> Software Update.
While iOS 18.6.2 does not bring any new features or noticeable changes to iPhones, Apple does say that it brings important security fixes and is recommended for all users.
In addition to downloading this update over the air from the Settings app, you can also download iOS 18.6.2 IPSW files using the links below and use iTunes or Finder to update your device manually.
Apple has also released macOS 15.6.1 Sequoia with security updates on Macs. On devices that do not run the latest software, Apple has released iPadOS 17.7.10, macOS 14.7.8, and macOS 13.7.8.
Update: According to Apple’s security support document, an exploit that can be used to perform memory corruption through a malicious image file has been fixed in this release. Apple says it “may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals.”
Due to this, it is highly recommended that you update to iOS 18.6.2 as soon as possible.
