If you are planning on buying the newly released Apple AirPods headphones or have already bought them, then we have got an interesting news for you. Apple has revealed on its website that it will be replacing AirPods batteries for free while they are under warranty. The company has also announced the service pricing involving battery replacement after the battery’s warranty period has expired. According to Apple’s iPhone Service Pricing page it will cost AirPods users $49 to have the batteries on their AirPods replaced once they have completed their lifecycle.
What’s noticeable in the updated iPhone Service Pricing page is that Apple chose to list this information under this particular page and not on a separate page created specifically for the AirPods. Also worthy of consideration is the question whether Apple will be selling AppleCare separately for the AirPods or will they be covered in another device’s AppleCare as users who have already bought AirPods report AppleCare was not available for them to buy. If that’s the case, then AppleCare purchased for the iPhone or even the Apple Watch would also cover the AirPods for its running period.
So if you have AppleCare coverage for your iPhone and you bought AirPods during this period, the AirPods will also get the extended warranty offered by the coverage. This is great news for those who have got the coverage and plan on purchasing the wireless headphones. We will update this post when more clarity is available from Apple on this issue.
