It has been over a year since Apple released the iPhone SE second generation. It is currently the only iPhone in Apple’s smartphone lineup that features a home button and older design. Fans of the affordable iPhone SE are now waiting for Apple update iPhone SE with new design, features and specs.
While you might be expecting a design refresh for the iPhone SE in 2021, a rumor floating around on the interwebs suggests Apple will redesign the SE in 2023. According to the rumor Apple is working on two iPhone SE models. The first model that might get launched in 2022 will feature the same design as the current model but with upgraded specifications and 5G capabilities.
The second model that Apple is working on will be the fully redesigned version and it will be launched in 2023. The 2023 Apple iPhone SE will feature a brand new design complete with a hole-punch front camera that we see on some Android devices.
As for the biometric authentication the 2023 iPhone SE will retain a redesigned Touch ID sensor that will be housed in its side/power button like the fourth generation iPad Air. The lack of Face ID sensors is the reason why Apple will be able to make the front camera small enough to fit in a hole-punch design.
Designer Apple Lab has created concept mockups showing what the new 2023 iPhone SE with a new design would look like. And the result showcases a device that is very tempting.
On the back this iPhone features a single camera and flash. On the front we get a bezel-less design with white sides and corners. Although the sides look thicker than we get on OLED iPhones, which could suggest that Apple will continue to use LCD display to cut down on costs.
The camera is found at the top of the screen with a punch hole design. The earpiece is built inside the body at the top of the device.
The concept made by designer Apple Lab looks very convincing especially due to the fact that it follows a similar design language as we have seen with the new M1 iMacs. Those too feature a white bezel around the screen and come in multiple color options.
What do you think about this concept? Do you think Apple will continue releasing the iPhone SE and give it a much needed design refresh? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
