Apple has just released iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 developer betas and they are now available for download. The release comes almost 24 hours after the public release of iOS 15.0.
Anyone who has a developer beta profile installed on his or her iPhone and iPad can download the new iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 on their device. Remember to only install this beta on your test device and betas can be unstable and contain bugs.
The build number for iOS 15.1 beta 1 is 19B5042h. Along with iOS 15.1 and tvOS 15.1 Apple has also released tvOS 15.1 and it can now be downloaded on Apple TV devices.
macOS Monterey beta 7 is also available for download on Macs that are part of Apple’s beta program. The final version of macOS Monterey will be released sometime in October.
While big new features are not expected in iOS 15.1, Apple will be testing missing iOS 15.0 features like SharePlay, App Privacy Report, detailed 3D navigation in CarPlay, Universal Control, Find My AirPods, Legacy Contacts and Custom Domain Names.
We are installing iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 on our devices, and will update this post as changes are discovered.
What’s new in iOS 15.1 beta 1
iOS 15.1 beta 1 has re-enabled the SharePlay feature after it was pulled from iOS 15.0 beta. The feature has been enabled by default and does not require a separate development profile to be installed on test devices.
SharePlay has been re-enabled in iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, and tvOS 15.1 betas, and no longer requires the SharePlay Development Profile. In order to continue developing SharePlay support for your macOS apps, please update to macOS Monterey beta 7 and install this new development profile.
iOS 15.1 also adds a new feature that will allow iPhone users to add their COVID-19 Vaccination to generate a vaccination card inside the Wallet app.
