iOS 9 brings many big features to iOS devices but the software update also has many small ones that make the experience of using iPhone and iPad more convenient for the users. One such feature as noted by iOSDevTips blog is support for quick reply functionality for third-party messaging apps. This means after iOS 9 is released apps like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Telegram and others will be able to implement the quick reply feature into their apps, making it possible for the users to reply to messages by puling down on the interactive banner notifications.

iOSDevTips writes “iOS apps can show a text field in notifications, which was previously restricted to Messages. This will bring quick reply to WhatsApp, Messenger and other third party apps.”

For the quick reply functionality to work with their apps, developers will need to update them. Since the beta of the iOS 9 and Xcode is already in the the hands of the developers we can expect all major messaging apps to have this feature right from the first day after the update is released publicly.

The quick reply feature was added to iOS with the release of iOS 8, however it was limited to the stock Messages app only. Users who wanted this feature had to download Cydia tweaks to be able to quick reply to messages.
