Along with iOS 13 and iPadOS 13, Apple has also released watchOS 6 software update for all compatible devices and it is now available for download. If you have a compatible Apple Watch running watchOS 5 or earlier, then head over to the Watch app on your iPhone to download the update.

The new watchOS 6 update brings a bunch of new features to the Apple Watch including new Watch faces that includes Meridian, Modular Compact, Solar Dial, California and Gradiant work. These Watch Faces are only available on Apple Watch Series 4 and newly released Series 5. Apple has also included new Nike watch faces, and new Numeral Watch faces for all compatible models of Watch including Series 1, 2 and Series 3.

watchOS 6 also brings new App Store app that allows users to download apps right from the Apple Watch, new Calculator app, Cycles app for female cycle tracking, Voice Memos app and Audiobooks app. Users also get the ability to delete many stock apps. Siri has also received improvements in watchOS 6 and can now display web results for search query using voice. Users also get new Radio streaming features that will be live later this year as well as new Activity Trends that users will be able to see in Watch app on iPhone.

A new Hearing Health feature has been added to the Apple Watch that tells the user if the environment’s ambient noise is too loud. It will also track the duration of user’s exposure and tells the user when the sound level has risen to a point that it can negatively affect user’s hearing.

Today’s update has been released for Apple Watch Series 4 and Apple Watch Series 3 devices. Apple has said that the watchOS 6 update for Apple Watch Series 1 and Series 2 will be released later in fall.

How to download and install watchOS 6

  1. Connect your Apple Watch to its charger.
  2. Open Watch app on your iPhone and head over to My Watch -> General -> Software Update.
  3. Download the new update and install it.

watchOS 6 is compatible with the following models of Apple Watch.

  • Apple Watch Series 5
  • Apple Watch Series 4
  • Apple Watch Series 3
  • Apple Watch Series 2 (Coming later this year)
  • Apple Watch Series 1 (Coming later this year)

All models of Apple Watch get the new update apart from original Apple Watch. Support for the first ever Apple Watch was dropped last year with watchOS 5.
