Animations are a big part of iOS, especially with the addition of iOS 7. One part that is rather lacking for animation however, is the icons. The clock uses it cleverly, while showing the actual time, but besides that, there isn’t much else. Fingal is a new jailbreak tweak that allows users to select animated theme and apply them to icons. It uses the famous GIF file to achieve the animation, and can quite impressive. For settings, there isn’t much. You can enable and disable themes, and rearrange priority. There is also a respring button.
Once you respring, the icons should now be animated. The “Basic Example Theme” only has 4 icons, which is a bit of a shame, but since it’s super easy to make new themes, you can expect Cydia to be filled with theme packs and if your up for it, you can make your own.
One little nitpick is that is doesn’t work everywhere (i.e. spotlight results). Other than that, Fingal is a solid and fun tweak.
Fingal is free on Cydia, so I highly suggest you give it a go. How to you like Fingal? Let us know in the comments!
