Jay Freeman aka Saurik has issued a new update to Cydia Substrate that will help in improving its reliability on devices running iOS 13. The update has been released on Sam Bingner’s repository and works with iOS 13.x, and iOS versions released before it.

According to the change log accompanying the release, this update should fix a serious resource leak which would have caused the Substrate to break and lock up.

What makes this particular release from Saurik even more significant apart from the fact that it solves a major problem with Substrate is the fact that he has stopped actively working on Cydia and supporting the new jailbreaks. The hacker had stopped supporting Cydia and other jailbreak related projects due to his personal commitments.

Since Saurik had stopped updating Cydia and Cydia Substrate, which is essential for tweak injection, jailbreak developers behind the unc0ver jailbreak took it upon themselves to update Cydia and its components in order to make it work with their jailbreak releases. However Cydia Substrate 0.9.7100 changes that for now with the release coming from Cydia’s founder himself.

The update for Cydia Substrate 0.9.7011 is available through the default Sam Bingner’s repo. The update might not show up on your Changes page, in which case you have to go into Sources > apt.bingner.com > System and manually download it. The update is recommended for all users, especially those running Cydia and iOS 13 jailbreaks that rely on Cydia Substrate (including unc0ver and checkra1n).
