YouTube has recently added a new feature to its app that allows creators to share TikTok style short vertical videos with their audience. YouTube users can access Shorts by going to its dedicated section and scroll up to move from one short video to another.
While users can share Shorts with their friends, predictably YouTube does not allow them to download YouTube Shorts on their devices. However if you are looking to get the ability to download YouTube Shorts, then the newly released YTShortsDownloader tweak is here to help.
This tweak adds a dedicated download button to the YouTube app, which can be used to download and save YouTube Shorts on your device.
In order to save a short to your device simply tap on the Download button and then choose from various size options. Users can choose from different resolutions including 1080×608, 720×406, 480×270, 360×292, 240×136 and 144×82. The file size of the Short and video quality depends on the download size chosen by the user.
Once you have saved YouTube Shorts to your device’s Photos app you can share them with the app of your choice.
YTShortsDownloader tweak is available for download under the Packix repo for free. It supports iOS 13 and iOS 14 powered devices. It is an open-source tweak.
