In this guide, you will learn how to change the default search engine on iPhone or iPad running iOS 18 or later.

On iPhone’s Safari browser, Google Search is the default search engine. However, iOS gives users full control over which search engine is used when they search in Safari’s search bar.

As of iOS 18.2, users get 5 options to choose from including Google, Yahoo, Bing, DuckDuckGo, and Ecosia. If you want to switch to any of these search engines, then you can follow the steps below.

  1. On iPhone or iPad launch the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap on the Apps option.
  3. On the next screen find and tap on the Safari option.
  4. Next, tap on the Search Engine option.
  5. Finally, choose your desired search engine.

To test out your change open Safari browser, type a query in the address bar, and hit the Go button. Your search should now be performed in your chosen search engine.
