How To Setup Homebridge On A Raspberry Pi (Video)

Many companies have adapted to Apple’s HomeKit, and it seems like more companies are jumping onboard with new HomeKit products, as many were seen at CES 2018. However, there are still many devices that do not support Apple’s framework, most notably companies like Nest and Samsung SmartThings.

Others, like WeMo, require you to buy an additional hub. If you want to bridge these accessories to HomeKit, there’s an easy way to do that using a free piece of software called Homebridge. It simulates a HomeKit hub, which then allows you to add unsupported accessories, which can then work with HomeKit. Homebridge runs on a few different platforms, but for this tutorial, we’ll show you how to install it on a Raspberry Pi.

You can watch the video above to find out how to install it. Commands and links to the sites mentioned are listed in the video description.

Did the install work for you? What accessories do you use with Homebridge? Do you use HomeKit, or prefer another smart home platform? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below! And don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more tutorials and reviews!
