Quick Look At iPhone X Inspired iOS 12 Gestures For iPad [Video]

As we have highlighted previously in another article, iOS 12 brings brand new gestures to iPad. These gestures bring the iPhone X-like user experience to iPad, as now tablet users can access the home screen by swiping up from the bottom, a gesture popularized by the iPhone X.

Having iPhone X inspired gestures on iPad will not only make it easier for users of both devices to have a seamless experience but it also paves the way for a Home Button free iPad, which is rumored to get released later this year.

Here’s how these new gestures work in both landscape and portrait orientations:

  • Swipe up from bottom: Return to the home screen.
  • Swipe down from top right corner: Access Control Center screen.
  • Swipe up from bottom and hold: Access App Switcher screen.

With iOS 12 Apple has also separated the Control Center and App Switcher screens. Previously on iOS 11 these two appeared on the same screen, however with iOS 12 not only there gestures have changed but they have also been separated.
