Apple’s Job Listing Hints At Potential Cryptocurrency Integration In Wallet App

Apple has posted a new job posting on its jobs website titled “Business Development Manager – Alternative Payments”. The job description is pretty interesting, as it potentially hints at Apple’s interest in integrating cryptocurrency in iPhone’s wallet app among other things.

According to the job’s description the person who will be hired for the job will join Apple Wallets, Payments and Commerce team aka WPC team at the company. In addition to cryptocurrency Apple is also looking for a candidate who has experience in digital wallets, Fast Payments, BNPL and more.

Depending on how much you read into the job description, the fact that Apple is has mentioned cryptocurrency in its job description for the WPC team is something that is attracting the most attention.

Cryptocurrency has seen a rise in popularity in recent months with wide spread adoption with companies like Paypal, Tesla and others. Apple’s interest in this space could push the cryptocurrency and its associated technologies to new heights. Apple could allow iPhone users to store their Cryptocurrency in the Wallet app and even make crypto payments at merchants using Apple Pay.

Apple’s job listings do not always mean the company will be releasing a product relevant to the details mentioned in them. However Apple has previously shared interest in Cryptocurrency with Apple Pay vice president Jennifer Bailey saying the company was “watching cryptocurrency” back in 2019. She continued saying the company believes cryptocurrency has “interesting long-term potential”.
