Google Maps app for iOS updated to add iPad support and new features

Google has released the version 2.0 of its Google Maps app for iOS devices. The update brings major changes and new features to the Maps app most important of which is native support for the iPad. Google has introduced a new design for the iPad that has been specifically designed for the larger displays of iPad and iPad mini.

Apart from adding support for Apple’s tablet, Google has also introduce a number of other features and improvements to its widely popular app. Google Maps 2.0 for iOS now features enhanced navigation support making it capable of giving live traffic updates as well as reports about incidents that have taken place on the road. The exploration feature has also been added that gives users a way to look for places to eat, shop, drink etc on the map.

The 5-star ratings system has also been introduced and now users will be able to see reviews for places given by their friends on the service. The app also includes Zagat content that Google added to Google Maps recently.

One of the most important features Google has added in Google Maps 2.0 is Indoor Maps support. Now using the Google Maps app on their iOS device users will be able to view inside view for airports, malls, transit stations and more and get walking directions as well.
