iOS 10 compatibility

Apple has announced the new iOS 10, and it is one of the biggest updates to iOS in its entire history of nearly a decade. With all the new features and improvements that were announced for the software, which powers the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, Apple has also released a list of compatible devices that will be able to run the new software update once it is publicly released in the fall. Below we have shared the complete list of iOS device models that will be able to run iOS 10. If you own one of the devices listed below and also have a developers account, then you can also preview the newly released software by installing the beta.

Update: Apple has just updated its website and has now dropped iPad mini, iPod touch 5th generation, iPad 2 and iPad 3 from the compatibility list. We have updated the list above to reflect this change.

While the list is pretty similar to iOS 9, there’s one major device missing from it and that is iPhone 4S. So if you are an iPhone 4S user who was hoping to get the latest version of iOS this fall, then you would be disappointed to know that Apple has dropped support for it.

Older devices like iPhone 5c, iPhone 5, iPad 2 and iPod touch 5th generation are supported, however it would be interesting to see how well they are able to run the new OS and if they get all the features introduced in the new iOS 10.
