Just yesterday Apple released iOS 16.1 beta for developers. Today the company has done the same for public beta testers and the update is now available for download.
IOS 16.1 beta 2 is an exciting release, as brings a number of battery indicator features that users will appreciate.
The first and most exciting battery indicator feature involves the omnipresent iPhone battery indicator that you see in the status bar. In this release Apple has tweaked the design of the new battery percentage indicator and has finally designed it so it starts to get empty as the device’s battery decreases.
In iOS 16.0 when you enable the battery percentage for status bar indicator, the battery indicator remains full at all times while showing battery percentage number inside it. This was frustrating to look at, and thankfully Apple has finally fixed it.
In addition to changes to the status bar battery indicator, iOS 16.1 public beta 2 now displays how much the battery has charged in percentage right on the lock screen. This is a feature that was available in iOS 15 but was removed from iOS 16.0. We are glad that Apple has finally brought it back in iOS 16.1.
In beta 2 the annoying paste confirmation dialogs that appeared every time you tried to paste something have been removed. Now you will only be asked for confirmation when an app tries to automatically paste from your device’s clipboard.
In addition to changes introduced in iOS 16.1 public beta 2, iOS 16.1 also brings other changes that includes iCloud Shared Photo Library, ability for users to delete the Wallet app, Matter support, Clean Energy Charging feature and battery percentage for iPhone’s 12 mini and 13 mini, iPhone XR and iPhone 11.
