Along with iPhone 14 Pro, Apple has today launched iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus with new features and big improvements over the previous generation.
This is the first time Apple has launched a ‘Plus’ version for the more affordable line of iPhone. This year Apple has discontinued the ‘mini’ model in favor of the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus, making it the first non-Pro iPhone ever to sport such a large display.
iPhone 14 measures 6.1-inches while the iPhone 14 Plus measures 6.7-inches. Both devices feature dual cameras on the back and the same TrueDepth cameras on the front along with last year’s notch design. Apple has kept the new pill shaped Dynamic Island notch limited to the Pro models.
iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are powered by the A15 Bionic chip from last year and do not get the latest A16 Bionic chip found on this year’s Pro models.
iPhone 14 is equipped with 12-megapixel Ultra Wide Camera and 12-megapixel wide angle camera. On the front the device comes with a 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera that now offers AutoFocus functionality.
Apple is also introducing a new Photonic Engine this year, which helps in improving Low-Light Performance on the iPhone’s camera. TrueTone Flash has also been improved and now offers 10 percent brighter lighting.
The new Action Mode has also been introduced in all four iPhone models, which allows users to record smooth looking video by adjusting shakes, motions and vibrations.
iPhone 14 models just like the Pro models come with new safety features that includes Crash Detection and Emergency SOS via Satellite. Crash Detection makes the iPhone capable of detecting when you have been in an accident and alerts emergency services automatically.
Emergency SOS via Satellite on the other hand allows the user to communicate with emergency services when they are in an emergency situation in a remote location that does not have cellular service available. Emergency SOS via Satellite is available in US and Canada only for now.
iPhone 14 models are available in five color options including midnight, blue, starlight, purple and (PRODUCT)RED.
Apple is going to start taking pre-orders on September 9. iPhone 14 will be available to customers on September 19 while iPhone 14 Plus will start shipping next month on October 7.
iPhone 14 with 128GB base storage starts at $799, which is same as last year’s iPhone 13. iPhone 14 Plus on the other hand has the same base storage of 128GB and starts at $899.
