Remember the iPhone X rumor period when there were reports about Apple releasing a Space Grey, Silver and Gold colored iPhone X. We even saw dummies and alleged back panels for the device featuring varying shades of gold. During the product’s announcement Apple surprised everyone by only announcing two color options, leaving the fans of a gold iPhone disappointed.
While the gold or blush gold iPhone X, as it was rumored back then was allegedly cancelled due to production issues, it seems like Apple might end up releasing the Gold color option, almost six months after the device’s release.
According to Benjamin Geskin, who accurately leaked iPhone X design, Apple is currently manufacturing a gold colored iPhone X and the device is codenamed D21A.
Releasing a new color for its flagship device in its mid-cycle isn’t entirely unheard of for the company. Just last year Apple surprised everyone by releasing a Product (RED) iPhone 7 with a red color. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in red finish was announced on March 21st, so this report does align with a similar launch of last year.
Apple is holding an Education event on March 27, so it is possible the company could take the opportunity to announce this new color at the same occasion.
