Rumor Claims iPhone SE 2 Will Be Released Around Mid-2018

If Digitimes Research analyst Luke Lin is to be believed, then we might get a budget iPhone SE successor in summer 2018. The analyst notes that this new device that is being dubbed as ‘iPhone SE 2’ will have a glass back, which will allow it to have wireless charging feature. While that is exciting Lin does notes that the device will not have 3D sensing, which means no Face ID can be expected on this particular iPhone model.

According to the report iPhone SE 2 will go in production in the second quarter of 2018 and might launch in the month of May or June, around the time of WWDC 2018. This is not the first time we are hearing rumors about an iPhone SE 2, as earlier this month we heard a similar report that claimed an iPhone SE with better specifications and wireless charging can be released in 2018.

Previously we have also heard rumors that a second-generation iPhone SE might get released in the first half of 2018 and would be assembled in Bengaluru, India at Apple supplier Wistron.

The design and form factor of the rumored iPhone SE 2 is also not known. While we expect it to carry on the same screen size as the previous generation, it will be interesting to see if Apple sticks with the outdated iPhone 5s-like design of the iPhone SE after adding a glass back to it.
