One thing Spotify users have been asking for a long time is a dedicated Apple Watch app for their favorite music streaming service. Now it looks like Spotify is finally listening as it is reportedly beta testing a watchOS app. The news about the Spotify Apple Watch app came out of Reddit where screenshots for the app have also been shared. The app is being tested through TestFlight.
According to the user who has got a chance to play around with the app, it is currently limited to controlling playback on the phone and does not offer offline music support yet.
The UI of the app, which can be seen in the screenshots above shows a simple app that gives access to a ‘Shuffle’ button and a list of recently played music. Users also get a now playing screen that lets them play/pause music, control volume, play next/previous songs, like a song and switch music. It appears like the app offers a page based user-interface where users can swipe to switch between the music list and now playing screens.
If you’re a Spotify users and want to test out the new watchOS app on your own Apple Watch, then you can join the Spotify beta and become a beta tester by filling out the form on its community page.
