iOS 18 is bringing the new Categorization features to the stock Mail app. With this feature the Mail app will make it easier for users to organize their emails and stay up to date with their in a more efficient manner.
The addition of Categorization feature in the Mail app will improve the user experience and make user’s life easier as they deal with an ever increasing flow of emails in their inbox.
The new Categorization feature will divide the user’s emails in four categories. This will include Primary, Transactions, Updates and Promotions.
Here’s how various categories will work.
Primary: This is the main category that will show your most important emails. This includes emails from people you know such as family, friends, or colleagues, and emails that consist of time-sensitive messages.
Transactions: This category will show all the emails that contain order confirmations, receipts etc, making it easier for you to find transaction emails.
Promotions: In this category you will find marketing emails, sale messages and other promotional messages. This separates promotional messages from messages that require your full attention.
Updates: In the updates category you will find emails that consist of updates and news. This includes newsletters and other news or information related emails.
In addition to categorizing emails into different sections, the iOS 18 Mail app will also group messages by a sender and show snippets of messages like receipts, marketing emails and newsletter from the same sender.
When will Categorization feature be available in iOS 18?
Apple has not launched the Mail app categorization feature in iOS 18 beta. This feature is not being tested with iOS 18.0 beta nor is it a part of iOS 18.1 beta, which is currently being tested. On its website, Apple says the Categorization feature of the Mail app is “Coming later this year” without specifying a date or month.
