Two weeks after the release of the first beta, Apple has today released iOS 16 beta developer 2 and it is now available for download. This is the first release after Apple’s announcement and initial release of iOS 16 beta after WWDC 2022.

The build number for today’s release is 20A5303i. iOS 16 developer beta 2 is around 1.8GB of download. This release is available only to registered developers. Apple has yet to release iOS 16 public beta, which is expected to get released in the month of July.
Along with iOS 16 developer beta 2 Apple has also released second betas for macOS Ventura beta 2, watchOS 9 beta 2 and tvOS 16 beta 2. All of these updates along side iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 betas are available for download on their devices.
Changes in iOS 16 beta 2
iOS 16 beta 2 features some changes and improvements over the first beta.
In iOS 16 beta 2 Apple has improved Message filtering and now allows developers to classify incoming SMS from unknown numbers in 12 sub-categories. These sub-categories are offered within Promotion and Transaction categories and will allow improved organization of messages received from unknown numbers.
Apple has also introduced a new backup feature for users who use iCloud backups. Now iCloud backup users can use LTE cellular and 5G in order to backup their device to iCloud. Previously users were limited to Wi-Fi backups only.
A new menu has been added to make it easier for users to manage beta software on HomePod. With this new menu HomePod owners who have multiple HomePods at home can choose which HomePod they want to install beta on by turning on the toggle next to its name. The menu is currently only accessible to those who have installed HomePod beta profile.
